My name is Kassim S. Mwagila. I was living at Yombo Vituka area Kilakala ward. I was staying with both of my parents. I am the third born child in my family. I was born in 1982 and named Kulwa (the old one among two twins). I started primary school in 1994 but from 1993 to 1994 I became seriously sick suffering with pain from my backbone, chest and other unknown diseases.
In the same year, 1994, we decided to go back to our origin home land in Ifakara (Morogoro Region) where I was admitted to St. Francis Hosptial. There I was examined and found with T.B. While I was under medication for T.B. it was unlucky that my back was paralyzed for one year. In the year 1995 we came back to Dar es Salaam and in 1996 I started standard three in the same school.
I completed standard Seven and engage in income generating activities (selling ground nuts and mangos).
In 2003 I opted to engage in selling water to the area where I was staying. From 2004 to 2005 I was a bus conductor. After that I decided to stay at home for eight months. In 2005 I went to join one Center for marginalized children known as Wapo Mission at Ysutt but the center closed before I got any assistance from them. My parents are really poor and they can’t afford school costs especially the fees. I came here to Friends of Don Bosco to see if I could get any assistance specifically secondary education. The centre is now helping me.
